belonging is polysemous
"belong" means "to be a part of" and here, this sense of "belonging" becomes therapeutic. to belong somewhere is as tender as it is desirable—it allows you to unfold yourself. it creates the necessary sense of security and offers space to share ideas, thoughts, concerns and your perspective on life.
"long to be" means to deeply desire to exist. personally, I find the meaning of the verb "long" fascinating. we are so accustomed to complaining about life, but perhaps here, we might actually enjoy it. we will come here to cultivate a deep and meaningful longing to exist—to exist as painlessly as possible.
the third aspect: be longing. how can we truly exist if we do not evolve as far as our potential allows? to reach as far as we can.
to expand in order to exist, as long as we belong.
in an attempt to describe myself—and through the uncomfortable process of sharing information about who I am—I will refer to my primary professional role and my core beliefs about mental health.
I am marina, a psychologist, a graduate of the department of psychology in rethymno and the school of medicine at aristotle university of thessaloniki, where I completed my postgraduate studies in health psychology.
I like to emphasize that mental health requires holistic approaches. many pieces form a whole and when one is affected, the entire system is impacted.
since solutions to problems are not always linear, this project includes both the psychotherapeutic aspect and an element of inspiration. the words in the texts, the colors and images in the photographs and everything that has shaped me until today—giving me my identity—are reflected in belonging.
